DUI Suspect Arrested Following Injury Crash in Hercules

Officials report the collision happened at Sycamore Avenue and Silver Maple Drive Wednesday evening.

HERCULES, CA- A man suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol was arrested after he collided with another motorist in Hercules on Tuesday evening, according to a police report released Wednesday.

At 6:10 p.m. Tuesday, Hercules police officers were dispatched to a reported collision at Sycamore Avenue and Silver Maple Drive. Officers discovered that a Ford van had collided with a Hyundai.

One of the Hyundai's occupants complained of neck and back pain and was medically evaluated, according to police. The driver of the van, identified as 29-year-old Miguel Lorenzo, was allegedly in possession of a suspended or revoked driver's license.

Police said he also displayed signs of being drunk. Lorenzo was given a field sobriety test but was unable to complete it, police said. A screening device revealed that he was over the blood alcohol limit for driving, police said.

Lorenzo was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI causing injury and was booked into Martinez Detention Facility.
