No Injuries As Grass Fire Burns Hill, Roof In Pinole

The fire was extinguished Tuesday afternoon.

PINOLE AND HERCULES, CA — No injuries were reported Tuesday afternoon when fire broke out on Greenfield Circle in Pinole.

A grass burned perilously close to homes, including burning the roof of at least one structure, according to Rodeo-Hercules Firefighters, who joined the battle against the smoky fire.

The fire was initially reported by the CHP, which spotted smoke coming over the hill onto the highway and estimated that it was coming from Hercules.

Fire in a neighborhood was unnerving, following last summer's North Bay inferno in Santa Rosa that cost 22 lives and leveled 2,800 homes. Santa Rosa is a mere 38 miles from Pinole.
