Hercules Hires Two Police Officers

The Hercules Police Department has hired two police officers, including one who had been a victim of layoffs last spring and one who is being promoted from a position as a reserve officer.

The hirings will maintain the current staffing level, said Hercules Police Chief Bill Goswick.

In April, the city force was reduced to 20 officers with due to city budget cuts. The two additional officers will replace two others who are leaving the department, the chief said on Tuesday.

Goswick released the following statement:

Please be advised that effective Sept 2, 2012, Officer Dan Barazoto will return to the Hercules P.D. ranks and Anthony Craig will be hired as a full time Police Officer.

As we all know Officer Barazoto is a well-rounded officer and he will bring back to Hercules P.D. the knowledge and experience of a seasoned officer. Officer Craig started his law enforcement career as a Hercules Police Explorer and then became a Parking Enforcement Officer. He attended and completed the Napa Valley Police Academy and became a Hercules Reserve Police Officer.
