Hercules Library Adds New Hours
The change in library hours better reflects the needs of Hercules and will make library services available to more people, more often.
From Contra Costa Library: Beginning the week of July 31, the Hercules Library will open on Fridays from 1 to 5 p.m. The addition of Friday hours is thanks to an increase in funding from the City of Hercules and the Hercules Library Foundation. In June, the Hercules City Council voted unanimously to fund the increase.
To improve access for all members of the community, the Library will also adjust open hours on Mondays and Tuesdays to 12 – 8 p.m. and the library will close at 5 p.m. on Saturdays. The changes to the library schedule means the Hercules community will have improved access to books, DVD’s, computers and library programming.
“Libraries are not a luxury; they are a necessity. The knowledge they contain and provide are critical for our residents’ growth and the vitality of our communities,” said Supervisor Federal Glover. “I applaud the City of Hercules for seeing the value a library provides for its residents by increasing hours and access beyond what is provided by the county."
