Hercules Police Label Car Fire 'Arson'

A neighbor who saw the car on fire had used a garden house to put it out.

HERCULES, CA - Police are investigating an arson involving a car that was set fire to on Saturday night in Hercules, according to a police report released today.

Officers were dispatched at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday to Lookout Court, where a 2012 Honda Crosstour in the driveway of a home was reported as being on fire.

When officers arrived, they found the vehicle with fire damage to the front grill and bumper, but the fire was already out, according to police. A neighbor who initially saw the car on fire had used a garden house to put it out.

Burnt rags soaked in gasoline and a small plastic gas can were found in front of the vehicle, according to police. The fire is being investigated as an arson.

The resident at the home where the Honda was parked reported having problems with her ex-girlfriend as well as her ex-girlfriend's father, according to police.
