Hercules Woman Scammed In Online Sale
Police say she met the scammer outside a bank, but she was paid with phony money.

HERCULES, CA — A woman was paid with fake money last week after she met with a man in order to sell him a piece of gold jewelry, Hercules police said Tuesday.
On Friday at about 12:20 p.m., officers responded to a report of a theft outside the Chase Bank at 3600 San Pablo Ave.
There, the victim said she arranged to meet with a man to sell him a gold necklace via the internet sale mobile app LetGo.

The suspect paid the victim with a Chase envelope, which was supposed to contain $420 cash. After the exchange, the suspect ran off.
When the victim opened the envelope, she discovered it was filled with fake $20 bills, according to police.

The suspect was described as a black man with long dreads and a thin build, wearing camouflage clothing, police said.
