Ist. amendment Right to speak as a citizen at Pinole City Council

Right to speak as a Citizen

There was a necessity to bring out facts at the last City Council meeting in Pinole after so many incorrect statements have been made. Two candidate, Tave and Salimi, are spreading incorrect information to the voters and not educating themselves on the correct information. They are telling the voters in Pinole that crime is higher than it has ever been to scare the voters. Nothing is farther from the truth. Crime is down almost 20% over previous years. The police statistics show that. Tave and Salimi also tell the voters that the response time from the fire dept. on a call was 20 minutes. The records show it was less than 6 minutes before being called off by the AMR on the scene. Scare tactics are designed to get votes. Remember that these two individuals have never attended a City Council meeting. They have not agreed to the voluntary spending limits, They have conveniently been absent at candidate forums. They talk about new business going to Hercules and not Pinole. We have a new Sprouts store and several satellite stores. CVS Pharmacy is relocating to a larger space in Pinole. Safeway is planning an expansion at their current location. The Lucky store is renovating it's current location. The Vista shopping center has lost three businesses that were part of an "going out of business or downsizing" program. Yet, our sales tax volume continues to grow. Hercules has not taken any business away from Pinole either. They should get their facts straight before they speak to people. They really need to educate themselves on the facts instead of listening to certain individuals who are manipulating them to move their own personal agendas. Tim Banuelos, Maureen Toms and Norma Martinez Rubin are candidates committed to serving Pinole as proven over the past 10 years as planning commissioners and City Council members. They are a big part of why Pinole has come back from near bankruptcy and loss of Redevelopment to a positive financial position. They get the job done and you can count on them to be there to lead us through the serious real issues in Pinole.
