Letter to the Editor: Reader Supports de Vera
Sarah Creeley praises Hercules City Council member on a vote about selling a public parcel.

This opinion was submitted by Patch reader Sarah Creeley.
When I choose my leaders I want people like Myrna DeVera, an outstanding former Hercules Mayor, and current City Council member. Myrna advocates for things I care about.
On June 26, 2012, Hercules City Council Meeting Agenda Item 15, number 10, Myrna DeVera asked the Council to wait on a decision regarding a sale to Summerhill Homes. No appraisal of the parcel, commonly known as Victoria Crescent, was done, which was shocking enough in itself. In addition, the developer was not present at the meeting, and the Purchase and Sale Agreement was incomplete. Common sense dictated a need for more information before locking into an agreement. I encourage everyone to go online and view this part of the City Council meeting. It is outrageous that 4 members of our City Council voted to just go ahead with another potentially misguided development.
I stand with Myrna, a true leader, who genuinely cares about our community. Myrna has advocated for more transparency between our city government and the people they serve. She is in support of drafting a sunshine policy for our city which will result in greater transparency and open decision making. Whenever I have had questions about developments, and have emailed my questions to Myrna, she has been prompt and thorough in her responses. Herculeans are lucky to have a Council member like Myrna DeVera! I stand with Myrna!
