Man Arrested After Allegedly Transporting Seven Pounds of Marijuana

Police said officers found a paper bag containing about three pounds of marijuana and a garbage bag containing about four pounds.

HERCULES, CA: A man was arrested Thursday after allegedly driving with an expired license and vehicle registration, as well as in possession of seven pounds of marijuana, according to police. Hercules police said at 10:17 p.m. near John Muir Parkway and westbound Interstate Highway 80, officers conducted a traffic stop for the driver of a 2006 Dodge Caravan.

Police said 52-year-old Jian Zheng Fang, of Hercules, was driving the vehicle with an expired driver’s license and registration that expired in 2014. According to police, Fang was on active probation out of San Francisco County for possession of a controlled substance. Upon further investigation, police said officers found a paper bag containing about three pounds of marijuana and a garbage bag containing about four pounds of marijuana.

Police said Fang was arrested for the alleged illegal transportation of marijuana and transported to the Hercules Police department for further investigation, before being taken the Martinez Detention Facility.
