Man Cuts Himself With Butcher Knife After DUI Crash: Police
Hercules Police arrested the man Tuesday night and took him to a hospital.

HERCULES, CA —A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run and driving under the influence of alcohol after hitting a parked car in Hercules late Tuesday and then being found with self-inflicted knife wounds in a nearby garage, police said.
Officers responded at 11:36 p.m. to the area of Pepperwood Street and Mesquite Court on a report of a hit-and-run and found that a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado truck had sideswiped a parked car.
The Chevrolet was unoccupied in the middle of the street and witnesses said the driver had fled into a home in the 100 block of Mesquite Court, according to police.

Officers got consent to enter the home and found the suspect hiding in a corner of the garage and holding a butcher knife, police said.
He eventually dropped the knife but had several fresh and apparently self-inflicted cuts on his arm. The man, whose name was not immediately released, was allegedly intoxicated and uncooperative but was taken into custody, police said.
