Nearby Summer Concert Series Continues Thursday Night

The Mixed Nuts will play hits from the 1960s to the present from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday in the second in a series of free July concerts in Pinole's .

People are welcome to bring picnic spreads and folding chairs to settle in for Summer Sounds, made possible by the Pinole Recreation Department.

Jun Simundo will play country music on July 26 to close out the concert series.

Next month, the park activity will shift from music on Thursdays to movies on Fridays.

Pinole Outdoor Cinema will show open with "The Muppets" (2011) on Friday, Aug. 10, followed by "Puss in Boots", "Dolphin Tale" and "Hugo" on consecutive weeks. The movies begin at sundown and no admission is charged.
