Pickup Truck Driver Dies In Crash Near Hercules: CHP

The truck went off state Highway 4, east of McEwen Road, the California Highway Patrol said.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — A driver died Monday from injuries suffered in a solo-vehicle crash on state Highway 4 near Hercules, the California Highway Patrol said.

The crash involved a white Ford Ranger pickup truck and was reported at 10:45 a.m. on westbound SR-4, east of McEwen Road.

The pickup truck driver was traveling westbound and left the roadway, rolling down an embankment, the CHP said.

He was not seat belted and was thrown from the truck, according to the CHP.

The driver was rushed to Contra Costa Regional Medical Center but the injuries he suffered in the crash were too severe and he was pronounced dead.

The man's identity was not yet released by the county coroner's office pending proper notification of his next of kin.

The CHP said the fatal incident was still under investigation and asked anyone who witnessed it or the events leading up to it to contact Contra Costa CHP in Martinez at 925-646-4980.
