Grass Fire Halted Outside Pinole
The fire was reported just after 2:30 p.m. and contained by 3:30, with about 12 acres burned.
PINOLE, CA — Firefighters from multiple agencies have contained a vegetation fire. There were no injuries and no structures damaged or destroyed. The blackened area is estimated at 12 acres. Rodeo-Hercules firefighters report that a vehicle fire on Alhambra Valley Road started the grass fire.
Fire retardant was dropped on the fire, halting its forward progress.
Crews then cut a fire line around the blaze to contain it if it reignited.

The fire was first reported by the California Highway Patrol at 2:33 p.m. Tuesday. The first report was for black smoke and flames.
Alhambra Valley Road was closed between Bear Creek Road and Castro Ranch Road as firefighters finished cutting their fire line.
