The Pinole-Hercules Bears combined aggressive and timely hitting, solid pitching and defense to beat Redwood Empire 8-5 Sunday in the Little League Divisional Playoffs.

The softball team earned a spot in the tournament by finishing first in the league in the 8- to 12-year-old division to move onto California District 4 Tournament of Champions in the Little League Girls Softball Minor Division.

They move on to the next round of games, which are scheduled for the coming week at Ellerhorst Elementary School.
