Pinole Historical Society: Lend Family Films For Digital Conversion
New project aims to create a lasting library of images.
The Pinole Historical Society is asking for home films and video footage to document Pinole's history. In its current quarterly newsletter, the organization makes a plea for material showing events such as civic celebrations, sports events, ceremonial ribbon cuttings and anything in between.
Footage and tape lent to the society will be preserved on DVD and then returned to donors. The society plans to make an archive of past local events and to create a YouTube channel of Pinole videos.
Pinole Historical Society treasurer Sheila Grist has donated VHS tapes and DVDs from her late mother's collection. They include the goundbreaking and the grand opening of the Pinole Senior Center, interviews with prominent Pinole families and a Pearl Harbor Day remembrance at the Bay Park Retirement Residence.
