Speakers made comments such as, "Hopefully one day the American flag will represent all of us".
"People are deliberately excluded from the protections of the American Flag." It's about making sure all of our community is accepted."
"Pinole is the second to last city to fly the Pride Flag." "This is about giving hope and giving life." "Let's make history together."
Council member Anthony Tave placed this Resolution on the agenda. It takes courage to speak to power. It takes courage to go against past history.
Kudos to Anthony Tave.
Council member Norma Martinez-Rubin, stated that when we take the The Pledge of Allegiance and say the words, ""indivisible, with liberty and justice for all", those words should not undermine the power of those without a voice."
Council member Vincent Salimi stated that, "I will die for the American Flag". "I will not stand for hate."
This may have been the most inspiring moment in Pinole's long and proud history.
We are Proud of Pinole. History has been made.
