Pinole Man Shot Dead In Richmond

Two other people were wounded in Friday night's shooting.

RICHMOND, CA — Two people have died from injuries suffered in recent Richmond shootings, according to police and the Contra Costa County coroner's office.

Kevin Peter, 30, of Pinole, died after being shot at about 10 p.m. Friday in the 1000 block of 13th Street, authorities said. Officers alerted by the ShotSpotter gunshot detection system found Peter inside a car in the driver's seat with critical injuries. Another shooting victim, a woman, was found standing next to the car with serious injuries. A third victim walked into a hospital, also with serious injuries.

Friday's shooting is suspected of being a gang shooting, but no arrest or suspect information was immediately released by police.

A Richmond woman was killed in a separate shooting Saturday. The coroner's office has identified her as Vennysia Jackson, 37.
