Pinole National Night Out a Shout Out

Tuesday August 6 is National Night Out.

"The purpose of National Night Out, which is organized in conjunction with various police organizations nationwide, is to inform the public about various police and community programs. Drug prevention initiatives, town watch organizations, or even tips on how to burglar proof your home, are only a few of the educational highlights of a typical National Night Out community gathering."

Pinole for Fair Government supports National Night Out.

But we miss the original iteration which was a neighborhood event that allowed neighbors to meet, talk, eat and embrace their mutual responsibility for one another's safety. The biggest thrill of the night was to receive the Police and Fire departments at your party as they made their rounds around town.

It is understandable that for logistical and financial reasons many cities and community's have made this event a "festival" type of event in one central location. But we want to give a shout-out and help to promote those Pinoleans who are hosting their own National Night Out Parties.
