Pinole Police Seeking Armed Robber

An employee told police the suspect pulled out a semi-automatic handgun from his waistband and demanded money.

PINOLE, CA —Police are seeking a suspect who robbed a Pinole restaurant at gunpoint Sunday, a police sergeant said.

Police responded to the Sabor Latino 17 restaurant at 2511 San Pablo Ave. around 5:40 p.m., Pinole police Sgt. Matt Avery said. An employee told police the suspect pulled out a semi-automatic handgun from his waistband and walked behind the counter while demanding money, Avery said.

The employee complied and the suspect grabbed money, then fled east on San Pablo Avenue on foot, Avery said. Pinole and Hercules police officers searched the area but did not locate the suspect.

The employee and a restaurant customer described the suspect as a black man in his early 30s with an approximately two-inch-long beard. He is 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall with a medium build, Avery said.

The suspect was wearing a black hooded zip-up sweatshirt, dark blue denim jeans, black shoes and a ball cap with a silver sticker on the bill.

No one was injured in the robbery, Avery said.
