Police Log: Close Call With Machete, Early Fireworks
Pinole police calls for the week ending June 29.

Saturday, June 23
12:05 AM – A traffic stop was made on San Pablo Avenue near Jones Avenue. The driver was arrested for possession of concentrated cannabis, possession of marijuana in a vehicle, and driving with a suspended license. They were transported to the Martinez Detention Facility and the vehicle was towed.
1:40 AM – A traffic stop was made in the 2700 block of Pinole Valley Road. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated. The passenger was arrested for public intoxication. Both were transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
11:22 AM – Screaming was reported in the 600 block of Quinan Street. The responsible subject was admonished.
11:30 AM – An argument regarding a dog off-leash occurred on Marlesta road near Appian Way.
12:45 PM – A subject was reported to be going through recycling bins in the 1700 block of Marlesta Road. He was admonished.
1:01 PM – The window of a vehicle was smashed in the 900 block of 4th Avenue.
1:48 PM – A traffic stop was made in the 500 block of Appian Way. The driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for transport or sale, resisting arrest, and driving with a suspended license. He was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility and the vehicle was towed.
3:31 PM – A customer causing a disturbance was reported at Chase.They were admonished.
7:42 PM – A neighbor dispute occurred in the 2300 block of Tennent Court. The involved parties were admonished.
8:27 PM – An assault was reported at Pinole Valley Lanes. The suspect fled before officers arrived.
9:22 PM – A suspicious subject was reported in the 2300 block of Paloma Court. They were contacted and no problems were found.
10:40 PM – Loud music was reported in the 3300 block of Ponderosa Trail. The responsible subjects were admonished.
Sunday, June 24
1:55 AM – A traffic stop was made on the westbound on-ramp to Interstate 80 from Appian Way. The driver was cited for driving wih a suspended license and the vehicle was impounded.
2:31 AM – Officers responded to a report of suspicious activity in the 2500 block of Simas Avenue. One subject was taken into custody for auto burglary and possession of stolen property and was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
3:27 AM – Assistance was rendered with a civil matter in the 100 block of Tennent Avenue.
9:36 AM – A wallet was stolen from a business in the 1500 block of Fitzgerald Drive.
11:13 AM – An argument occurred near Walgreen’s over a parking spot. The involved parties were admonished.
2:37 PM – One gunshot was reported in the 2100 block of Bluejay Circle. The area was checked and no problems were found.
5:51 PM – A customer refusing to leave the drive-thru was reported at Taco Bell. They were gone when officers arrived.
9:09 PM – A traffic stop was made in the 1700 block of San Pablo Avenue. The driver was cited for driving without a license. A passenger was arrested for a warrant and was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
10:58 PM – A vehicle occupied by a sleeping subject was reported in the 300 block of Del Monte Way. The occupant was admonished and left.
11:17 PM – A family disturbance occurred in the 2700 block of Wright Avenue.
Monday, June 25
4:30 AM – A traffic stop was made on Appian Way near San Pablo Avenue. The driver was cited for driving without a license and the vehicle was towed.
7:53 AM – Items were stolen from an unlocked vehicle at Motel 6.
7:54 AM – A resident in the 2500 block of Moraga Drive reported a theft from their unlocked vehicle.
10:53 AM – Vehicles were egged in the 3100 block of Avis Way.
2:46 PM – An attempted residential burglary was reported in the 800 block of Rogers Way.
4:50 PM – Officers contacted a pedestrian in the 2700 block of Pinole Valley Road. They were cited for possession of marijuana.
6:00 PM – A customer causing a disturbance was reported at G & L. They were admonished.
9:43 PM – Suspicious activity and possibly gunshots were witnessed by an officer in the 2800 block of Pinole Valley Road. Occupants of the vehicles involved were contacted and it was determined the noise was made by fireworks.
10:47 PM – Officers checked a suspicious occupied vehicle on San Pablo Avenue near Quinan Street. One subject was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Tuesday, June 26
9:35 AM – A hit and run to a light pole occurred on Appian Way near Fitzgerald Drive.
12:04 PM – A theft occurred at Jay Vee. The suspect fled before officers arrived.
12:27 PM – A customer causing a disturbance was reported at PetSmart. They were admonished
and left.
1:54 PM – A reckless driver was reported on Pinole Valley Road near Interstate 80. The vehicle was gone when officers arrived.
2:13 PM – An unwanted subject was reported at a business in the 600 block of San Pablo Avenue. They were admonished and left.
4:38 PM – A non-injury accident occurred in the 1400 block of Fitzgerald Drive.
5:57 PM – A theft was reported at Fernandez Park.
8:34 PM – Property belonging to a recent auto burglary victim was located by a citizen in the 2500 block of Simas Avenue. The property was returned to the owner.
9:40 PM – An auto burglary was reported in the 1400 block of Fitzgerald Drive.
11:07 PM – Officers checked a vehicle occupied by a sleeping person on Pear Street near Tennent Avenue. When officers attempted to awaken the subject, the subject tried to attack the officer with a baton. He also attempted to access a machete in the vehicle. He was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and possession of the baton and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Wednesday, June 27
10:11 AM – Property was found in the 500 block of San Pablo Avenue.
1:40 PM – A solicitor was reported in the 1000 block of Bay View Farm Road. They were contacted and found to have a permit, and no other problems were found.
2:34 PM – A strong-arm robbery was reported in the 900 block of San Pablo Avenue. The suspects fled before officers arrived.
4:34 PM – Advice was given about a possible court order violation in the 2000 block of Hoke Drive.
6:33 PM – Advice was given about a possible restraining order violation in the 2100 block of Shea Drive.
7:25 PM – A subject was arrested for theft at K-Mart and was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
8:02 AM – Officers responded to a report of a disturbance in the 2400 block of San Pablo Avenue. One subject was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.
8:42 PM – A vehicle was vandalized in the 2400 block of La Salle Drive.
Thursday, June 28
7:15 AM – A subject was reported to be going through recycling bins on Simas Avenue near Pinole Valley Road. They were gone when officers arrived.
10:27 AM – A speeding vehicle was reported in the 2500 block of Appian Way. The responsible subject was admonished.
10:44 AM – A suspicious subject with a knife was reported in the 500 block of Tennent Avenue. The area was checked and no problems were found.
2:25 PM – A theft occurred at Shell. The juvenile suspects fled before officers arrived.
4:23 PM – A subject with a warrant was arrested in the 700 block of Alvarez Avenue.
5:40 PM – Teenagers drinking and smoking marijuana were reported in the 600 block of Tennent Avenue. They were gone when officers arrived.
6:01 PM – Assistance was rendered with a civil matter in the 100 block of Tennent Avenue.
10:41 PM – A vehicle burglary was reported in the 1300 block of Fitzgerald Drive.
10:45 PM – Suspicious activity was reported in the 700 block of San Pablo Avenue. A security check was provided.
11:34 PM – A vehicle burglary occurred in the 1300 block of Fitzgerald Drive.
11:57 PM – Gunshots were reported in the 3500 block of Pinole Valley Road. One officer heard them and believed they were probably fireworks; no problems were found during a check of the area.
Friday, June 29
1:06 AM – Loud music was reported in the 500 block of Sunnyview Drive. The responsible subject was admonished.
2:15 AM – A traffic stop was made near Motel 6. The driver was arrested for driving with a suspended license and possession of a controlled substance. He was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility and his vehicle was impounded.
7:15 AM – A subject sleeping in a vehicle was reported in the 1200 block of Marionola Way. He was contacted and left the area.
11:35 AM – Suspicious subjects were reported on Estates Avenue near Faria Avenue. They were contacted and determined to be residents of the area.
12:45 PM – Possible gunshots were reported in the 2600 block of Moraga Drive. It was determined to probably be a backfiring vehicle and no problems were found.
4:00 PM – A vehicle occupied by subjects possibly smoking marijuana was reported at Pinole Valley Park. The occupants were contacted and no problems were found.
7:19 PM – A vehicle was vandalized on Kildare Way near Marlesta Road.
7:45 PM – Officers contacted a pedestrian near Safeway. He was cited for consumption or possession of an alcoholic beverage in public.
8:40 PM – Subjects causing a disturbance were reported near Bill’s Liquors. One subject was arrested for a warrant and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
8:51 PM – Officers responded to a welfare check request at Motel 6. One subject was arrested for public intoxication and violation of probation and was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
9:21 PM – An unwanted subject was reported at Bill’s Liquors. One subject was arrested for public intoxication and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
10:11 PM – Fireworks were reported on Alamo Street near Estates Avenue. The responsible subjects were gone when officers arrived.
10:54 PM – Officers checked a suspicious occupied vehicle in the 1100 block of Nob Hill Avenue. One subject was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of probation and was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
11:40 PM – Suspicious activity was reported in the 2300 block of Simas Avenue. The area was checked and no problems were found.
