Residents Invited to Join Pinole Police Citizen Academy

The Pinole Police Department will soon begin its fourth Citizen Academy for people who live or work in the city to join its Citizens Academy. The academy is  for adults who are 18 or over and who have an interest in the field of criminal justice or are interested in how government, courts and police do their jobs.

The academy is limited to the first 30 students.

Participants should expect fun and interactive activities, according to Pinole police.

The Citizen Academy is scheduled to begin on October 6, 2012 and end with a graduation ceremony on November 10, 2012. Sessions will be held on Saturday mornings 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. There is no charge to participate.

Students will learn about and participate in:

• city government
• traffic law and investigation
• drug and alcohol awareness
• crime scene investigations
• police radio dispatch
• court operations
• jail operations and tour
• emergency vehicle operation

Registration is open to citizens who work or live in Pinole.
