Richmond Shootings Leave 2 Critically Injured

In both cases, police responded to reports of car accidents and found gunshot victims in the vehicles.

Two people are in critical condition after two separate shootings occurred Saturday in Richmond.

At 2:47 p.m. police and California Highway Patrol officers responded to a report of a collision on westbound Interstate Highway 580 near Regatta Boulevard, according to police. When they arrived officers found a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital where he remains in critical condition, police said. No suspects have been identified in that incident.

At 6:10 p.m. officers responded to a report of a second shooting and a collision in the 2200 block of Cutting Boulevard, according to police. When officers arrived they found a 52-year-old Berkeley woman who had been struck gun gunfire as she was driving, causing her vehicle to collide with another vehicle, police said. The victim was taken to a hospital, where she remains in critical condition, according to police. Witnessed told police they saw a male running south on South 22nd Street, police said.

Investigators have not been able to connect the two shootings, according to police.
