Students Making Ivy League Connections

A group of Pinole Valley High School students will attend summer sessions at various elite schools in 2012.

A group of 14 Pinole Valley High School students received medals from Pinole Mayor Peter Murray at Tuesday night's council meeting for their admission to the Ivy League Connection 2012 summer sessions at various Ivy League colleges and universities.

Prinicipal Sue Kahn, who delivered the medals, said they are reserved for special achievements. Each of the students spoke a few words at the meeting about where and what they will be studying. They said that upon returning they will share their experience with other students and the Pinole community.

The selected students competed for inclusion in the West Contra Costa Unified School district program with other students in the district. They earned  all-expense-paid programs that will last two to three weeks.
