Tehama County Softball Team Happy to Visit Pinole

We came across an item about a Northern California softball team that will postpone vacation plans for a visit Pinole. Reporter Craig Purcell of the Corning Observer wrote:

"There are a number of people in Corning altering their original summer travel itineraries to include a detour to the town of Pinole in Contra Costa County, and they couldn't be any happier.

"That's because they are the proud parents of the 11 members of Corning's Minor All-Stars softball team, which earned a trip to Pinole by winning the District 1 championship with a 7-1 victory over Red Bluff on Tuesday at Hobart Field in Red Bluff."

That game was played in triple-digit heat, according the the article. Along with the privilege of playing in Pinole Saturday and Sunday, the team members are likely to get some relief from the heat. The forecast is for sunny skies and high temperatures in the low- to mid-70s.

Corning is a town of about 7,000 people in Tehama County.
