Three Hercules School Principals to be Replaced

Hercules Middle High School Principal Guy Zakrevsky, Lupine Hills Elementary School Principal Cynthia Taylor and Ohlone Elementary School Principal Liz Lonsdale will leave their posts. Their replacements take over in August.

 

Three of Hercules' four public schools will get new principals this summer, said West Contra Costa Unified School District Superintendent Bruce Harter in an email to Patch.

Richmond Senior High Assistant Principal Jennifer Bender will replace Guy Zakrevsky as principal of .

Liz Lonsdale will take over for Cynthia Taylor, who has held her position as principal of for only a year. In that year, Taylor found herself under the microscope for a and her and Lupine Hills teachers.

Lonsdale will leave her current spot as principal for Lupine Hills, and the district will find her replacement sometime in July, Harter said.

The new principals will start August 1, with meet-and-greets for Hercules Middle High parents on Aug. 8 and Lupine Hills parents on Aug. 9.

Both Zakrevsky and Taylor will take positions at the district level, with Taylor becoming an Instructional Specialist and Zakrevsky a Director of Educational Services, Harter said. He did not say why Zakrevsky and Taylor were leaving to work for the district.

The WCCUSD Board of Education approved the appointments at its June 27 meeting.  The changes were announced to parents and school staff through automated calls on Thursday and Friday.
