Truck Thief Runs Over Victim's Ankle: Hercules Police

At 8:35 a.m., the victim confronted the suspect as he was burglarizing his truck.

HERCULES, CA -- Police are looking for a man who allegedly fled Friday morning in a stolen car after running over a man's ankle in a shopping center on the 800 block of Willow Avenue. At 8:35 a.m., the victim confronted the suspect as he was burglarizing his truck, according to a Hercules police news release.

The suspect, identified as a Hispanic male between 25 and 30 years old, then stole a gray Mercedes parked behind the truck and began driving away.

As he drove away, the victim climbed into the driver's side through the window of the Mercedes in an attempt to retrieve his stolen property, police said.

During the struggle between the two men, the suspect ran into a third vehicle head on.

The suspect allegedly reversed the car with the victim halfway inside the vehicle. Eventually, the victim fell out of the car onto the ground, where the suspect ran over his ankle, officers said.

The victim was treated at the scene for injuries that were not life threatening. Officers were unable to locate the suspect or the vehicle.
