Unconscious Driver Found in Overturned Car

PINOLE, CA — The driver of an overturned car was unconscious when Pinole Police officers arrived at the scene Tuesday morning. The driver was transported to the hospital, where he was treated and released. He was then transported to jail in Martinez and booked for DUI.

The crash happened around 2:20 a.m. in the area of the Original Mels Diner. According to a written statement from police, "Officers were already in the area and heard explosions, which turned out to be power transformers that blew upon impact, just before we received the call."

No one else was hurt.
