Viewfinder: Hercules Teens Get a Glimpse of the Impact of DUIs

A simulated but highly realistic drunk driving crash and funeral were staged at Hercules High School Tuesday and Wednesday as part of the Every 15 Minutes program, an effort to deter teens from driving drunk.

students got a glimpse of the grim reality awaiting many teens who get behind the wheel while under the influence. Tuesday and Wednesday, Hercules teens participated in and viewed the Every 15 Minutes program, which is designed to bring home the impact of a teen's DUI crash on the driver, passengers, family and friends.

The program takes place every two years at Hercules High School and is sponsored by the Hercules Police Department, California Highway Patrol, Office of Traffic Safety and Rodeo-Hercules Fire District.
