Where to Get Free Sandbags in Pinole and Hercules

PINOLE AND HERCULES, CA — Up to four inches of rain could fall in Pinole and Hercules this weekend, with the heaviest rainfall coming Sunday.

If floodwaters have been a problem in your neighborhood in past prolific storms, it may be time to get some sandbags.

Contra Costa County provides this information on sandbag locations:

Hercules In Hercules sand bags will be available at the Swim Center, 2001 Refugio Valley Rd, and also at City Hall, 111 Civic Dr. For both location there should be sand and bags, though bags sometimes run out so bringing bags just in case is advised, and a shovel or tool for getting sand into the bags.

Pinole Sand bags for Pinole will be located in the public parking lot located behind the public safety building, adjacent to St. Joseph’s school. The address for the school is 1937 Plum St, and the closet intersection for that lot is Plum St at Tennent Ave.For both location there should be sand and bags, though bags sometimes run out so bringing bags just in case is advised, and a shovel or tool for getting sand into the bags.

Fill the sandbags half-full to allow room for tying them closed and so the sandbags can conform to empty spaces as you are placing them.
