'All-Clear' Issued In Hercules Grass Fire Along I-80
The blaze along westbound Interstate 80 briefly threatened structures, prompting an immediate evacuation order.

HERCULES, CA — Immediate evacuations were briefly put into effect Monday morning as a grass fire burned dangerously close to homes along Interstate 80 in Hercules.
The immediate evacuation order was issued at 10 a.m. but was lifted at 10:18 a.m. after an all-clear was declared on the blaze that was reported shortly after 9 a.m. Monday on westbound I-80 just north of state Highway 4.
The fire affected traffic in the area, according to the Contra Costa Office of the Sheriff's Community Warning System.

"This is a message from the Hercules Police Department. Due to a FIRE in the area of Crab Apple Court, Stone Pine Court, Eucalyptus Knoll, towards HWY 80, an immediate evacuation has been ordered for a portion of Zonehaven Zone HER-003. This is an EVACUATION ORDER LEAVE NOW. Leave now and exit Victoria Crescent towards San Pablo Avenue. Take only important items you have ready and can carry with you. Pets must be in a carrier or on a leash. Stay off the phone unless you need to report a life-threatening emergency at your location. If you are physically unable to leave your home unassisted, call 9 1 1 for help. IF you receive this alert and are not in the immediate area, please contact us at cwsalerts.com."
The system subsequently issued the following message.
"This is a message from Hercules Police Department. An 'All-Clear' has been issued for the Fire in Hercules in the area of Crab Apple Court, Stone Pine Court, Eucalyptus Knoll, towards HWY 80, located in a portion of Zonehaven Zone HER-003. Please feel free to resume normal activities."
