Woman Robbed at Gunpoint in Bank of America Parking Lot in El Sobrante; Suspect On the Loose

A man armed with a handgun approached her, threatened her and demanded cash.

A woman was robbed at gunpoint outside of a bank in El Sobrante on Tuesday, a Contra Costa County sheriff's spokesman said today.

The woman was in the parking lot heading toward the entrance of the Bank of America at 3939 San Pablo Dam Road around 9:50 a.m. when a man armed with a handgun approached her, threatened her and demanded cash, sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee said.

Lee said the woman handed over cash she had planned to deposit in the bank and the man took off in a car. The victim was not injured.

Deputies searched the area for the suspect but were unable to locate him.

The man had still not been identified as of this afternoon, according to Lee.
