Assistance League of Diablo Valley Again Partners With Broadway Plaza

Assistance League® Way Side Inn Thrift Shop, located at 3521 Golden Gate Way in Lafayette, is the primary fundraiser for Assistance League of Diablo Valley’s eight philanthropic programs.

This unassuming structure belies its powerhouse capability to provide funding to improve the lives of those in the Contra Costa community who are in need and at risk.

One obvious reason for its success is due to the year-to-year, hands-on and financial involvement of its “good neighbors” in nearby Walnut Creek, Broadway Plaza.

On Thursday, October 30, a team led by Macerich Senior Marketing Manager Tracy Dietlein returned to Assistance League’s Way Side Inn Thrift Shop to help member volunteers with display and tagging merchandise for sale. Assistance League of Diablo Valley’s Corporate Partners Program Co-Chairman Lesley Salo stated that the longstanding partnership that Assistance League of Diablo Valley has enjoyed with Broadway Plaza goes beyond “social responsibility.” It celebrates the commitment of two community-minded organizations with similar values, visions and missions who continue to make a difference.

Over the years, Broadway Plaza’s involvement has empowered Assistance League of Diablo Valley to feed more families, share the joy of reading among additional schoolchildren, support emancipated foster youth, fund scholarships, and attend to the needs of our community’s sometimes overlooked seniors.

This partnership has also made an impact when Broadway Plaza participated in the nationally acclaimed Operation School Bell® clothing events. Last year alone, with the hands-on and financial support of the Broadway Plaza, Assistance League of Diablo Valley reported a $730,000 return to the community.
