Assistance League of Diablo Valley's Operation School Bell Works "Hand-in-Hand" with Supervisor Mitchoff's Office
When Assistance League of Diablo Valley works "hand-in-hand' with public officials, children thrive and the entire community benefits.

Since 1994, Assistance League of Diablo Valley’s Operation School Bell, a nationally acclaimed philanthropic program, has provided elementary schoolchildren with clothing and shoes. In more recent years, the chapter has enlisted the help of public officials who give “hands-on” support in furthering improved school attendance, campus citizenship and classroom performance. On October 6, Assistance League of Diablo Valley President Veronica Gant welcomed staff members Lindy Lavender and Lia Bristol (right of center in photo) from CCC Supervisor Karen Mitchoff’s office to work with chapter member volunteers bagging clothes designated for students attending Pittsburg Unified School District’s Parkside elementary School. (Ms. Mitchoff is a Chapter Advisor.)
After a brief in-service, the Mitchoff volunteers reported to the Annex, where they joined chapter Board and Operation School Bell members to pack carefully labeled items. They included one sweater jacket, two pairs of pants for boys or skorts for girls, three polo shirts, six pairs of socks, a six-pack of underwear and a shoe card from Payless, filling 227 bags in a mere two hours’ time. Such “hands-on” partnership yields happy and successful life long learners.
