Assistance League’s Operation School Bell Lauds Return of WC Rotarians
Reality Check: If students do not feel comfortable with their attire, they do not "show up" cognitively.

Assistance League® Diablo Valley’s Operation School Bell®-Clothing is a nationally acclaimed, hands-on philanthropic program that has served the local community since 1994. Last year alone, 3,329 students in grades K-12 received new clothes, which contributed to an improved self-esteem among life-long learners.
Since 2006, Assistance League of Diablo Valley has forged a rapport with various entities, now called Community Volunteers, where employee volunteers from local businesses and philanthropic organizations become hands-on involved when contributing financially to philanthropic programs.
On September 11, at 9 a.m., Carolina Alas arrived at Assistance League of Diablo Valley Business Offices in Walnut Creek with a contingent of Walnut Creek Rotarians. Their goal was to ensure improved school attendance, as well as citizenship and academic performance for students attending Shore Acres Elementary School, (Go, Great White Sharks!) in Bay Point, in the Mt. Diablo Unified School District.

After a brief presentation from Community Partners Committee Co-Chairman Linda Mercer, the energetic employee volunteers reported to the chapter’s Annex, where they placed six pairs of socks, six pairs of underwear, one sweatshirt, two pairs of pants for boys or one pair of pants and one skort (upon request) for the girls, and three white, collared shirts into 150 reusable bags in a mere two hours’ time! The filled bags will be transported to the recipient school for distribution.
When two community-minded organizations pool their resources in support of our most treasured asset, our youth, everyone in the community wins! Thank you, Walnut Creek Rotarians!
