Children's Train Stolen From Pleasant Hill Found: Police

BREAKING: The theft was reported at 8 a.m. Sunday in the 3000 block of Vincent Road.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA -- A black trailer containing a $60,000 train used to entertain children at community events around Contra Costa County has been found in Walnut Creek thanks to a social media post, police said Monday. Pleasant Hill police Sgt. Janayla Pierson said that "the power of the news and social media" helped lead to the recovery of the trailer.

Pierson said a community member spotted the trailer and then posted a photo of it on a social media platform asking if it was the one that was stolen. The owner of the trailer saw the post and verified that it was.

The theft was reported at 8 a.m. Sunday in the 3000 block of Vincent Road. Pierson said police are continuing their investigation into the theft and are currently looking for surveillance footage in the area.
