Power Restored To 26K Customers In Contra Costa [UPDATE]

BREAKING: The morning outage closed major roadway/intersection in Danville-San Ramon area.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA – UPDATED: THURSDAY, NOV, 17, 1:25 p.m.

Power has been restored in the San Ramon and Danville areas after an outage this morning that affected about 26,000 PG&E customers, according to the utility.

Power went out at homes and businesses in the area around 7:30 a.m. and officers closed Crow Canyon Road at Alcosta Boulevard, San Ramon police said.

PG&E officials said all customers had power restored by 9:45 a.m.

Police had initially said a blown transformer was to blame for the outage, but PG&E officials said the cause is under investigation.

THURSDAY, NOV. 17, 8:19 a.m.

A blown transformer has shut down a major thoroughfare in San Ramon and knocked out power to tens of thousands of people, according to police.

Police reported the outage at 7:45 a.m. and said the blown transformer has caused Crow Canyon Road to be closed in both directions at Alcosta Boulevard.

About 26,000 people in the area have lost power as a result of the blown transformer, police said.

PG&E crews responded and are at the scene, according to police.
