Convicted East Bay Child Molester Dies After Prison Suicide Attempt In Martinez
The 54 year old was set to be transported to a state prison when he tried killing himself Tuesday, officials said.

A convicted child molester who was awaiting transport to state prison attempted to kill himself Tuesday inside a Martinez jail cell and died on Thursday, a spokesman for the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office said.
Discovery Bay resident John Hansen, 54, was convicted on multiple counts of child molestation, sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Lee said. Staff in the Martinez Detention Facility found Hansen unresponsive and rendered aid, Lee said.
He was transported to Contra Costa Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead late Thursday afternoon, according to Lee.
