An upcoming Friends of the Pleasant Hill Library meeting will include City Council members and a county supervisor as guest speakers.
PLEASANT HILL, CA— From Friends of the Pleasant Hill Library: The Friends of the Pleasant Hill Library’s Annual General Meeting will be held at the Pleasant Hill Library on Saturday, May 18. The meeting will begin with highlights of the Friends’s achievements over the past year followed by guest speakers.
The guest speakers include city councilmembers Michael Harris and Sue Noack followed by Supervisor Karen Mitchoff. The speakers will be giving an update on the plans for the new Pleasant Hill Library, the closing of the old library next year, and steps still to come.
“As a child, I frequented this library and it continues to be my neighborhood library. I am proud of the robust programing seen at the Pleasant Hill Library and I know that the Friends play a large role in that. The official closure date has always been based on a tentative timeline and I have always been flexible and aware of potential delays. I am committed to utilizing the existing building as long as fiscally responsible,” said Supervisor Mitchoff.

“I am delighted that our dream of new library for the 21st-century is becoming a reality. This new library will be a modern facility that will be a wonderful place for learning, exploring, and discovery. It will have special areas to meet the needs of our earliest learners, our teenager explorers, and our adult book lovers. It will be a gathering place for the entire community and a civic treasure for decades to come. ‘When we build it, they will come,’” said councilmember Harris.
Doors open at 10am and light refreshments will be provided by Friends prior to the start of the General meeting. A question and answer session will follow the talk. After the meeting, all members of the Friends are invited to vote for a new slate of officers at the regular meeting.
