Diablo Valley women's soccer headed to state semifinals

The outstanding DVC squad continued its historic march in the regional soccer playoffs.

The Diablo Valley College women's soccer team earned its first trip to the state final four with a 1-0 win over San Joaquin Delta on Nov. 26 in Round 3 of the NorCal regional playoffs.

Noelle Lemos scored the winner in the 79th minute, her 19th goal of the season. The Vikings (17-1-6), who earned their first Big 8 Conference title this season and the No. 1 seed in the north region, will next face Santa Barbara on Dec. 2 in the CCCAA semifinals at Ventura College. The winner will face either Cerritos or Folsom Lake in the state final on Dec. 4.

Lemos, a transfer from UC Davis where she redshirted, has six goals in three playoff games, including a hat trick in a 4-0 win over Las Positas in Round 2 and two goals in a 6-1 win over Solano in Round 1.
