DVC Around the Horn: Beautiful soccer gift from DVC in beautiful game
The Diablo Valley College women's soccer team donated used jerseys to the boys from Brazil

For all the Diablo Valley women’s soccer team's accomplishments last season, including winning the Big 8 Conference championship and placing No. 2 in the state, nothing touched the heart of DVC coach Cailin Mullins quite like an event off the field.
Last semester the team was approached by two local students who were collecting used soccer jerseys to send them to underserved communities worldwide. Approval was given to donate DVC’s old uniforms, and Mullins followed through.
Well, Mullins recently received emailed photos from Samantha and Katie deGavre of One Jersey. One Goal, which showed kids adorned in Vikings green in Sao Vicente, Brazil.

“What I first saw the photos it almost brought tears to my eyes,” said Mullins, the National Coach of the Year. ‘I’m going to get them some more stuff.”
Some of DVC’s soccer jerseys were taken to a program called Projeto Comunidad Voturua, which takes street kids in gang riddled areas and exposes them to organized soccer programs in the hopes of leading them away from the drugs and gangs.
