Fire Damages Popular Pleasant Hill Restaurant

Breaking: Contra Costa County fire officials believe the fire may have started in a PG&E transformer.

PLEASANT HILL, CA -- A single-alarm fire that damaged the exterior of a Pleasant Hill restaurant early Wednesday morning appears to have started in a PG&E transformer, according to fire officials. At about 2:25 a.m., fire crews were sent to the back of the Black Angus Steakhouse at 3195 N. Main St. where they found a large transformer on fire and flames spreading to the exterior of the building, according to

Contra Costa Fire Protection District Fire Marshal Robert Marshall.

It took firefighters 22 minutes to bring the fire under control because PG&E crews had to cut electricity to the transformer and to several downed power lines before crews could attack the fire itself, Marshall said.
