East Bay BART Trains Delayed & Backed Up This Morning

BART service is resuming this morning after police searched for a possibly armed suspect aboard a train at the West Oakland station, BART police said.

A man reported that someone pulled a gun on him outside of the Richmond station just after 7 a.m. and then went inside the station and possibly boarded the train, police said.

The train was stopped at West Oakland as police searched it, BART police said.

Trains were backed up throughout the system, as far away as North Berkeley, Walnut Creek and San Leandro for lines heading to San Francisco, Fremont and Richmond, according to BART.

BART police said that as of about 8:15 a.m., the train had been searched but the suspect was not located and train service was allowed to resume.
