East Bay Nanny Arrested, Charged With Abusing Infant

Parents reported the alleged incident captured on home surveillance video, police said.

EAST BAY, CA – Berkeley Police have arrested a nanny for alleged felony child abuse after a 6-month-old boy's parents showed police a video from their home surveillance system. According to police, the video showed the nanny, 44-year-old Ingrid Perez, physically abusing the infant.

The child was examined at a hospital and released. He did not suffer any injuries.

According to police, Perez was en route to another child care job when she was arrested by police on Monday, Oct. 31.

The Alameda County District Attorney's Office has charged Perez with one felony count and one misdemeanor count of child abuse.

Perez, a Richmond resident, has been caring for children in the Bay Area for the past 10 years. Police investigators contacted families who have employed her recently to ensure that all children who were in her care are safe.
