Hey Kids: What Would You Change About Pleasant Hill?

Pleasant Hill is a swell place to raise kids. It’s safe leafy streets, good schools and friendly small town vibe are among the chief reasons people move here. According to the 2010 Census, nearly one out of three households in Pleasant Hill has children. But is it still a great place when the kids get older? Is it a great town for teenagers? Do teenagers think it is? These are some of the questions that will be addressed at the city’s first Youth Summit next week.

The idea behind the Youth Summit is to hear what the city's youth have to say about Pleasant Hill and to bring young people more fully into civic life, said Mayor John Hanecak. For the past few weeks students at Valley View Middle School and College Park High School have been answering the following questions:

1) What do you like about Pleasant Hill?
2) What would you like to change about Pleasant Hill?
3) Do you have any questions you would like answered about Pleasant Hill?
4) Any comments, or suggestions would you like to add?

The responses will be discussed along with other issues of interest to Pleasant Hill’s youth at the summit next Thursday, May 24.
