Mall Employees Carjacked By Masked Suspect With Fake Gun: Police

Pleasant Hill police say the suspect drove the stolen car to Bay Point, where he was arrested.

PLEASANT HILL, CA — A masked man accused of using a replica firearm to steal a car at gunpoint was arrested on suspicion of carjacking early this morning, according to Pleasant Hill police. Around 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to the 500 block of Contra Costa Boulevard.

There, police spoke with two Sun Valley Mall employees — a 22-year-old Concord man and an 18-year-old Martinez woman — who said they were parked near Burger King when a man wearing a mask and carrying a gun approached them and demanded the car and a cellphone.

Before driving off with the car, the suspect allegedly pistol-whipped the male occupant.

The suspect, later identified as 24-year-old Rocky Wilson from Concord, allegedly fled the area with the vehicle but was found in Bay Point by police and Contra Costa County sheriff's deputies.

Wilson was arrested on suspicion of carjacking, among other offenses, and a fake gun was found inside the stolen vehicle before the vehicle was returned to the victims.
