Man Dies In Rollover Crash On Kirker Pass Road

The accident was Monday around 6:30 p.m.

A 51-year-old Pittsburg man died in a rollover car crash just outside of Concord on Monday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The man, identified by the Contra Costa County coroner’s office as Joseph Reeder, was driving a 1998 Buick north on Kirker Pass Road near Hess Road when he drifted into the concrete center median, CHP Officer John Fransen said.

The car careened toward the right shoulder and then rolled over multiple times and struck two trees and an electrical pole before coming to rest on its wheels, Fransen said.

CHP officers and medical crews were called around 6:30 p.m. and pronounced him dead at the scene of the crash. Fransen said witnesses told officers that Reeder was driving erratically and was speeding.

The coroner is still working to determine whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash, he said. Reeder was wearing his seatbelt at the time, Fransen said.
