Man Who Targets Yoga Studios Wanted For Identity Theft, Fraud In Pleasant Hill, Pittsburg: Police
Breaking: Police allege that in the latest incident, the suspect stole a purse from a Walnut Creek yoga studio.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA -- Police in Walnut Creek are seeking the public's help in locating a
suspect accused of committing fraud and identity theft. According to police, Christopher Newton is suspected of stealing a purse from a yoga studio earlier this month, and making fraudulent credit card purchases in Pleasant Hill, Pittsburg and San Francisco.
In a statement Tuesday, Walnut Creek police said Newton's MO -- method of operation -- dating back to 2016 has been to take a taxi to a local yoga studio and steal a wallet or purse, then use the stolen credit cards to make purchases.
Newton also has warrants from three Bay Area jurisdictions related to fraud and identity theft, police said.

Police released multiple photos of Newton and said witnesses described him as talking with a "feminine" voice and being "flamboyant."

"If you see this subject, please do not approach him and contact your local police department," Walnut Creek police said. "Also, please remember, if you are attending a yoga class or going to work out, please don't leave any valuables in an unsecured locker, a common area, or visible in your car that can be taken easily."
