Mayor: Talks Focus On New Theater Location

Preliminary talks have begun to find another location in Pleasant Hill for the CineArts theater and its art films.

"Representatives of the city are looking into other avenues of providing independent art films in Pleasant Hill," said Mayor Michael Harris in a phone interview Thursday. "We're hoping to come up with a solid proposal in the not too distant future."

Harris gave no further details.

The CineArts at Pleasant Hill has a date with the wrecking ball in its current location at the Crossroads at Pleasant Hill Shopping Center on Monument Boulevard. On Tuesday, the Pleasant Hill Planning Commission voted 6-1 to go forward with a developer's plan to demolish that building and construct space for a new Dick's Sporting Goods at the south end of the shopping center.
