Pittsburg Police Officer Involved In Shooting During Domestic Call
A Pittsburg police officer shot and injured a suspect and two of his family members after responding to a domestic disturbance call Tuesday.

PITTSBURG - A suspect and two of his family members were shot and injured by a Pittsburg police officer responding to a domestic disturbance call Tuesday night, a police captain said Wednesday.
Officers responded shortly after 9 p.m. to the 1500 block of Kingsley Drive after a woman said her 20-year-old son was acting irrationally and likely was under the influence of drugs, Pittsburg police Capt. Ron Raman said.
The suspect was on the porch of the family's home and demanding to come in, and family members said they could see through a security screen door that he was armed with a gun and pointed it at his father several times, Raman said.

Officers arrived and gave verbal commands to the suspect, who refused to comply.
When he allegedly reached for his firearm in his waistband, an officer opened fire, striking him in the leg, according to Raman.

At least two rounds went through the security screen door, where the suspect's father and 17-year-old brother were standing. The father was hit in his stomach area, and the brother was hit in the leg, Raman said.
All three were hospitalized but are expected to survive. The father has since been released and the 17 year old is in stable condition, the captain said.
The suspect, whose name was not immediately being released, will be booked into county jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and other weapon-related offenses once he is medically cleared, Raman said.
The suspect's handgun was recovered at the shooting scene.
The officer involved in the shooting has 20 years of law enforcement experience, Raman said. The officer's name was also not immediately being released.
The shooting is being investigated jointly by Pittsburg police and the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office.
