Pleasant Hill Robbery Suspect Arrested After Foot Chase In Corning

PLEASANT HILL - A suspect in an armed robbery at a department store in Pleasant Hill who fled from police last week has been arrested north of the Bay Area, police announced Thursday.

Charles Frederick Justus, 22, of Hayward, was arrested in connection with the robbery at 1:47 p.m. on April 5 at a Nordstrom Rack store at 703 Contra Costa Blvd. in Pleasant Hill and an ensuing police pursuit through Contra Costa County cities and highways.

Justus was allegedly involved in another pursuit on Wednesday before being arrested in the city of Corning by U.S. Marshals Service agents and Tehama County sheriff's deputies, according to Pleasant Hill police.

Justus fled from law enforcement personnel on foot in a chase that lasted two and a half hours and covered around 5 miles, police said.

Justus, a parolee who was allegedly armed during the pursuit, was eventually taken into custody without further incident.

After the Pleasant Hill robbery, Justus was allegedly involved in a pursuit that had to be called off when he drove into oncoming traffic.

Police said there were three children and a woman in the car during the chase.
